Sasirangan Cloth (Kain Sasirangan)

Kalimantan Selatan has a unique and authentic cloth named Kain Sasirangan (Sasirangan Cloth). This cloth is made by 'tusuk jelujur' technique or tying a base cloth by using string then it's dipped and dyed into desired color. Sasirangan cloth is actually used to heal a person who got sick (pamintaan) but this is long forgotten and now it's widely used by people everyday and everywhere in formal or casual occasions. Sasirangan is usually hand made in home industry, it's seldom printed. The product of sasirangan cloth are kebaya (women's dress), shirt, t-shirt, shawl, veil, curtain, handkerchief, table cloth and bed cover. You can buy the cloth in souvenir shops or directly visit the home industry.
